Important for students who wish to be exempt from courses previously taken at another higher education institution in the Yalova University Psychology Undergraduate Program:

According to the “Senate Principles Regarding Course Equivalency and Adaptation Procedures at Yalova University” (see Annex 1), students who wish to be exempt from previously taken courses may apply in their first year of enrollment.

As stated: “The student must submit their request regarding course equivalency to the relevant department head by the end of the first week of the semester in which they are enrolled.”
Therefore, petitions from students requesting exemptions will be accepted until 7 October 2022. Exemptions will be evaluated by the relevant commission.

The petition must include the following documents for the courses to be adapted:

  1. Previous Curriculum (Theory-Practice-Laboratory-Credit / T-P-L-C)

  2. Course Syllabus (course objectives, content, and weekly plan)

  3. Transcript

  4. Exemption Form (Word format, editable)

All documents listed above (except the Exemption Form) must be approved, signed, stamped, and barcoded by the Faculty/Institute/Vocational School or Student Affairs Office.

The exemption commission will evaluate whether the courses submitted by the student are equivalent. Therefore, students must indicate which previous course should be counted for which current course using the form in Annex 2. Equivalency is assessed based on the requirement that course content should match at least 80%, as per the regulations.

Students are advised to carefully review course plans and contents and confirm the similarity of their previously taken courses when applying.

All signed documents must be submitted to the faculty student affairs officer and also sent via email to Asst.Prof. Zehra Ertuğrul Yaşar (zehra.yasar@yalova.edu.tr).
