Important for students who wish to be exempted from courses previously taken at another higher education institution in the Yalova University Psychology Undergraduate Program!
According to the “Senate Principles on Course Equivalence and Credit Transfer at Yalova University” (see Appendix 1), students who wish to be exempted from previously taken courses:
-
Must submit their request regarding course equivalence to the relevant department by the end of the first week of the semester in which they are enrolled. If declared within this period, the student may be exempted from the relevant courses following a commission evaluation. Therefore, petitions from students wishing to be exempted must be submitted by 26 Semptember 2025
The petition must include the following documents for the courses to be considered for exemption:
-
Previous Curriculum (Theory-Practice-Laboratory-Credit / T-P-L-C)
-
Course Contents (objectives, scope, and weekly syllabus)
-
Transcript
-
Exemption Form (see Appendix 2; should be editable in Word format)
All documents (except the Exemption Form) must be approved, signed, stamped, and certified by the Faculty/Institute/School or the Student Affairs Office.
The exemption commission evaluates whether the courses submitted by the student are equivalent. Therefore, students are expected to indicate on Appendix 2 which previous course they want to count toward which current course. Course equivalence is assessed based on at least 80% content similarity (as detailed in the regulations). Accordingly, students should carefully review the course syllabi and content and declare that the courses they have taken are similar before applying.
The above documents must be submitted in hard copy to the faculty student affairs officer and sent by email to Asst. Prof. Zehra Ertuğrul Yaşar (zehra.yasar@yalova.edu.tr)
